About this Product

Every home could use a bit of a refresh as the grey of winter draws to an end. Celebrate the season of renewal inside your home with a four leaf clover to match the greenery emerging outside.

Let these shamrock trivets bring a little bit of whimsy into your home this spring - and maybe even a wee bit of luck! Use them functionally as hot pads on your dining table, decoratively on a side table, under a potted plant or flower vase - you can even hang them on your wall! Guests to your home will remark, “I’ve never seen anything like that before! What exactly is it? How is it made? Where can I get one?” (Ok, the last one is what I hope they say!)

Perfect for seasonal decorating, these trivets take up very little space when not in use. Stored flat with your other seasonal decorations, they will be good as new next year and are reusable for years to come. OR, keep out all year long and enjoy the textured charm they lend to your living space every day.

Meet the Maker

At SecondMade, I believe that what you choose to participate in matters

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to the act of making something out of nothing - or more accurately - a pile of raw materials. For most of my life, I assumed that purchasing brand new supplies was the only option available and I happily crafted away, unaware of the environmental pitfalls of craft-based consumption

With time I realized that there was a better way: utilizing secondhand and repurposed materials to achieve the same ends - making cute stuff! Since this shift, I have become increasingly aware of the vast amount of unwanted materials suitable for crafting already in circulation. Purchasing brand new supplies is no longer the only conceivable option available to me - in fact, it's usually my last resort

For years past and into the future, I choose to find worth in materials that have been discarded by others, to weave the value back in to what would otherwise be destined as waste.

Here at SecondMade, I offer hand-woven and hand-crafted items designed to inspire a little spark of joy whenever you see them - consciously crafted from secondhand and repurposed materials, of course! With a purchase of reusable seasonal home decor or timeless personal accessories, you can feel proud of what you are choosing to participate in.

SecondMade: Weave a little joy into your life!

How it’s Made

Kind of like a cross between rug hooking and crochet, locker hooking produces a thick and sturdy product that will last for ages. Strips of fabric or other material are hooked into place on a gridded backing using a special crochet hook, then locked into place with string running through each fabric loop (hence the name locker hook). Like other rug hooking processes, the grid framework allows for designs as simple or intricate as the maker desires! A quick search on Google, YouTube, or Pinterest will give you a more in-depth look at how it’s done.

I use secondhand or repurposed fabric and yarn for the designs. I can sometimes find the grid backing at my local secondhand craft store but not always, so sometimes I have to purchase that new. All items in my shop are handmade by me in my pet- and smoke-free studio.
